MUSEUM OFFERS AUDIO TOURS, PODCASTS OF DINOSAUR EXHIBITS
IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH
New podcasts will now allow Spanish-speaking visitors to the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History in Norman to enjoy a Spanish-language audio tour through the dinosaur exhibits. The 25-minute tour is available in both English and Spanish. Museum visitors have the option of downloading the tour from the Web onto their personal iPod or other mp3 player, or renting an iPod at the museum information desk for use during their visit. The audio tours were made possible by the AT&T Foundation.
The Spanish language tour is voiced by Carlos Toledo, news anchor for Telemundo. The tour presents information about several highlights of the museum’s Hall of Ancient Life, including exhibits such as the world’s largest Apatosaurus, a Pentaceratops whose ten-and-a-half-foot skull holds a Guinness World Record, and Saurophaganax maximus, one of the largest Jurassic predators.
“I have always wanted to do a Discovery-Channel-type program,” Toledo said. “I had a good time doing the audio tour and learned a lot. It was very interesting.”
IPods are available to rent at the museum information desk for a fee of $2 each. Those who have their own devices may download the audio tour podcast for free from the iTunes music store or from the museum’s Web site: www.snomnh.ou.edu/rss.
The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is located on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. A family of four can visit the museum for under $20. Additional information about the museum is available by calling (405) 325-4712, or on the Web at www.snomnh.ou.edu.
