SPRING FAMILY PROGRAMS OFFERED
Spring is a great time for families to come together and reacquaint themselves with the outdoors. The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is offering some family programming this spring that can help families do just that, and have some fun along the way. Registration is open now for two “Family Night Out” programs coming up on March 28 and April 11.
“Family Night Out” provides dinner, an outside activity and craft activity to families with children of all ages. In “Make Your Own Field Guide,” from 6 to 8:30 Friday, March 28, families will take a guided nature walk around the museum grounds to observe, collect and record their finds, then head indoors for a kid-friendly dinner. Each family will then use their nature finds to create a “family field guide,” a kind of book the family can use to identify what they find in their yard, the local park, or on vacation at a national park.
“Family Night Out: Nature Games,” will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11. This active session will start outside with some fun outdoor games that even parents can play. After dinner, the group will work inside to help each family design and make a family game to take home and play outside in their own backyard or park.
The cost for the Family Night Out programs is $10 per person, which includes dinner and a take-home project. Children ages 4 and under are free. Activities are geared for elementary school-age children, but younger and older siblings are welcome. Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged.
To register, call the museum education department at (405) 325-4712.
